General notes:
You must manually start the pvm daemons (pvmd) on each node to be used in the job. This is done with the command pvm \<machinefile>). This command can be placed in the job script before the start of the pvm application. You will need to decide whether you are going to use ethernet and/or myrinet. We suggest that you start with ethernet, but plan on moving to myrinet as soon as possible. Selection of ethernet or myrinet is done by the hostnames in the machinefile used to start the pvm daemons on the nodes. If you are using ethernet, simply use $PBS_NODEFILE for the machinefile name. If you want to use myrinet, you will need to take the $PBS_NODEFILE and create a new machinefile with the -myr at the end of each hostname in the original $PBS_NODEFILE. |
