LCRC Users,
LCRC projects have been approved for allocations for FY22 Quarter 1 (starting today, 10/1/2021) on Bebop, Blues and Swing.
If your project requested time and was approved for Quarter 1, you can check the project balance by running the following command on any Bebop, Blues or Swing nodes:
lcrc-sbank -q balance
Note: All clusters report balances separate from each other.
Dedicated condo nodes should continue to use the ‘condo’ project to submit jobs.
If you have NOT yet submitted your FY21 Project Report, if applicable, your allocation will remain pending until we receive your submission. Project PIs can submit the report here if they have not already done so:

The Allocations Committee meets 4 times a year to review allocation requests. Any pending new projects and additional allocation requests are reviewed at each meeting. Ongoing projects must submit an updated project request for each fiscal year. At this meeting, each project receives a new allocation each quarter. Time does not carry over between quarters. Allocations for ongoing projects become active on the first day of the quarter. All other allocations between quarters become active immediately, upon approval.
Bebop is the primary Argonne production system, and Blues is dedicated to industry partnerships and special projects. If your non-industry project requires Blues time (or vice versa), please state that in your future requests. Note that Blues time cannot be used on Bebop, and vice versa. Swing is our newer, GPU focused system.
On Bebop, a KNL core hour costs 0.585 bank core-hours, while a Broadwell core hour stays at 1.0 bank core-hours.
PIs can request more time for their project at any point during the year via the project management web pages only (https://accounts.lcrc.anl.gov). When you request more time, it will be for the current quarter. It is important to show how you computed the request for additional time, e.g., 10 additional runs needed using 30 KNL nodes for 8 hours each, equals 154K node-hours. These requests, like the annual requests, are reviewed by the committee in the context of the overall usage of the cluster. Smaller requests are handled by the LCRC staff. Requests with insufficient information may be reduced.
Please remember to acknowledge LCRC in your publications, e.g., “We gratefully acknowledge use of the Bebop [or Blues] cluster in the Laboratory Computing Resource Center at Argonne National Laboratory.”
